Liverpool-spelers met handboeien afgevoerd
Het trainingskamp van Liverpool in Portugal is wat uit de hand gelopen. Vijftien spelers gingen na aankomst in Villamora het centrum in. Enkele Reds misdroegen zich zodanig dat ze met handboeien om naar het politiebureau zijn afgevoerd.

De uitbater van Bar Mony's zette de voetbalsterren uit zijn zaak. Toen ze terug aan het Barrington Golf complex kwamen, waar Liverpool in enkele sjieke appartementen verblijft, liep het uit de hand. Doelman Jerzy Dudek, Jermaine Pennant en Robbie Fowler vernielden enkele geparkeerde wagens en electriciteitsboxen.

Ze hielden ook huis in enkele kamers, gewapend met een golfclub. Aanvoerder Steven Gerrard en international Peter Crouch probeerden de amokmakers tot inkeer te brengen, zonder resultaat. Het werd pas rustig toen de Portugese politie ter plaatse kwam. Onder anderen Jerzy Dudek werd met handboeien naar het politiekantoor afgevoerd.
