ââ¬ÅThey werenââ¬â¢t sure I was over it, but now Iââ¬â¢m creating antibodies, and this really shows you are over it,ââ¬Â he said. ââ¬ÅBut I lost a lot of fitness. I was feeling so great in December up until the moment I got sick, so this has been my problem the last couple weeks: really getting back on track. I havenââ¬â¢t practiced and couldnââ¬â¢t really work out the way I wanted to, because you have to be very careful with mono.ââ¬Â

Het is een stuk van twee pagina's, dus dat lijkt me lastig.
Werkt dit wel?

ITF and ATP Announce Dates and Ranking Points for Davis Cup by BNP Paribas
é Getty Images
The ITF and the ATP announce today Davis Cup by BNP Paribas dates from 2009 through 2013 and that South African Airways ATP Ranking Points will be awarded for Davis Cup from 2009. This is the first time that ranking points will be awarded for singles and doubles rubbers played in the elite World Group and World Group Play-off Round.
From 2009, ATP ranking points will be awarded to players on an accumulated basis over the preceding 52-week period for the 4 rounds of Davis Cup and the play-off round. These accumulated points will count as one result and will be eligible to count for ranking purposes as one of a playerââ¬â¢s four best results from the new 500 category.
Up to 500 points will be on offer to ATP players under the new system, with a bonus of 125 additional points on offer to a player that wins all eight live singles rubbers as well as winning the Davis Cup.
The ITF and ATP announcement means that Davis Cup dates are stabilised through 2013 with the support of the top players whose views were considered during the decision-making process. The addition of ranking points for all live singles and doubles rubbers is an added incentive for players to represent their nations in Davis Cup by BNP Paribas.
ââ¬ÅThis is a win/win situation for Davis Cup by BNP Paribas and the ATP,ââ¬Â said ITF President Francesco Ricci Bitti. ââ¬ÅThe calendar is stabilised for the upcoming years in the model that the top players requested and, for the first time in history, Davis Cup players will receive well-deserved ranking points for their performance in the competition.ââ¬Â
We are delighted to award South African Airways ranking points for Davis Cup starting in 2009, said Etienne de Villiers, ATPââ¬â¢s Executive Chairman. ââ¬ÅThe new ATP Tour structure for 2009 is about providing fans, broadcasters and sponsors with very best circuit possible. Like the Tour, Davis Cup is a key component to the growth and future of tennis. We look forward to an exciting and memorable season to come.ââ¬Â

4 rounds of Davis Cup and the play-off round.

Sampras Joins the BlackRock Tour of Champions
Pete Sampras has given a huge boost to the BlackRock Tour of Champions by announcing that he is to join the circuit of former World No.1ââ¬â¢s, Grand Slam finalists and Davis cup winners in 2008.
Sampras, who won seven Wimbledon titles and ended six successive years as the World No.1, will play two tournaments in his first year - the Grand Champions Brasil in Sao Paulo next month, and the BlackRock Masters Tennis event in December at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England.
The trip to Sao Paulo will be the first time he has visited South America, and the BlackRock Masters Tennis event will mark his first journey to England since his last Wimbledon appearance in 2002.

Quote:Ancic Earns Law Degree from University of Split
é Paun Paunovic
Mario Ancic has enjoyed an outstanding tennis career by finishing in the Top 10, helping his country to the Davis Cup title, reaching the semifinals at Wimbledon and winning three career ATP titles.
But the 24-year-old Croat's proudest moment off-court came Monday in his hometown of Split where he officially became a graduate of the Law School of the University of Split.
On Sunday, after leading his country to a 3-2 Davis Cup victory over Italy by winning the fifth and decisive rubber, Ancic drove four hours back home to get ready for his "huge day" on Monday.
In front of a crowd of 300 people, that included students and professors in the Law program, members of the Croatian Olympic Committee, Administer of Sport, family and friends, Ancic gave his 45-minute thesis on "ATP Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow," describing the legal foundation and organization of the ATP Tour. Afterwards, Ancic took questions from professors and students.
"When I was going to high school with childhood friends I was always good in school and I wanted to see if I could do it," said Ancic, who began the law program at the end of 2002. "It was a lot of work and I always wanted to play tennis but this is why I decided to continue and it was a huge day for me yesterday."
"Obviously it's not easy to compare (to tennis) but these will be memories I will cherish for the rest of my life."
When Ancic was sidelined last year for nearly six months due to illness and injury, he became an everyday student and said, "It wasn't good for my tennis not playing but I had something to focus on while I was out. This was good and I used my time well. I was spending a lot of time there and it was normal life for a 23-year-old not playing tennis."
Ancic says education has always been stressed in his family. Older brother, Ivica, who played pro tennis briefly, earned a degree in economics, and younger sister, Sanja, who was a Top 10 junior in the world, is studying pharmacy in Zagreb.
"It shows the part of our family, the sport is big for us, but we always try to do both," said Ancic. "It is so important and last year I had a lot of problems, and one day, it shows you what will you do when you're not going to be playing tennis? You never know what could happen the next day. It's something that's going to stay with me for my lifetime."
Ancic wrote his 68-page thesis in Croatian and he plans to get it translated in English and wants to give it to whoever is interested in reading it. "I want to thank Etienne (de Villiers) for helping with this and everybody with the ATP for their time."
When asked what he will do with his Law degree, Ancic said, "It's something that can open many doors after my tennis career and I hope to play eight to 10 more years. I would like to put together the sport and law that I like much and hopefully help the interests of the players."
The university's graduation ceremony is next month at a date to be announced, and Ancic said if he is in the middle of a tournament, he knows the one place he will be. "Wherever I am, that one day I will be there for sure in my cap and gown."

Quote:Britain's worst professional tennis player finally wins his first match after 54 consecutive defeats
Robert Dee is a good loser. With 54 lost matches in a row, he has had to be.
But the 21-year-old British tennis player has finally tasted victory after three long years on the lowest rungs of the professional circuit. And he likes it. When Dee faced American Arzhang Derakhshani in Barcelona last Saturday he was only one defeat away from the record 55 consecutive losses.
Never once had he managed to reach the elusive second round of a tournament. But something went wrong - or rather, right - and Dee found himself claiming his first victory on the circuit with a respectable 6-4, 6-3 tally.
(...)
Over the next three years he played all over the world - in the less than glamorous locations of Sudan, Rwanda, Senegal, Iran, Botswana and Colombia. Then, in March, he equalled the record for the longest losing streak on the so-called futures circuit when he was beaten for the 54th consecutive time.
(...)
His optimism was, however, shortlived. In the second round of the Barcelona tournament he lost 6-3 6-1 to Poland's Artur Romanowski.

Frenchman Gael Monfils did not concede one ace against 6' 10'' Ivo Karlovic in a 7-6(8), 6-1 win over the Croatian. It was the first time in Karlovic's 225-match ATP career that he had failed to serve an ace in a match.
