FC Bayern München defender MartÃÂn Demichelis is likely to miss Wednesday's UEFA Champions League quarter-final return against AC Milan due to injury.
The Argentinian suffered a pulled calf muscle during the 2-1 league win at Hannover 96 on Saturday in which he scored. "It's going to be a close thing", said coach Ottmar Hitzfeld when asked about the prospect of Demichelis, an unused substitute in the first leg, recovering in time. On the bright side for Bayern, Hitzfeld has both goalkeeper Oliver Kahn and midfielder Mark van Bommel available after missing last week's 2-2 draw in Milan through suspension.
Bayern will definitely be without veteran Mehmet Scholl, who tore a muscle in his right thigh during training and is expected to be out for up to three weeks. Key midfielder Schweinsteiger, meanwhile, bruised his left knee against Hannover but the Bayern coach expects him to recover in time. "He would be a big loss, but we still we hope he will play," Hitzfeld said.
