Gilberto, Bergkamp ruled out but Ljungberg & Pires travel to Holland
Gilberto and Dennis Bergkamp are missing from Arsenalââ¬â¢s squad for the Champions League game at Ajax but Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg are available and have travelled with the squad to Amsterdam.
Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger knew he would be without Jens Lehmann [suspended], Robin Van Persie [suspended], Thierry Henry [groin] and Philippe Senderos [back], but question marks remained over the other players.
Gilberto limped out of Saturdayââ¬â¢s game at West Ham whilst Bergkamp and Pires did not even make the squad at Upton Park.
Despite the recovery of the Frenchman and Swedish midfielder Ljungberg, Wenger will still be relying on the resourceful element of his players.
ââ¬ÅWeââ¬â¢ve got a few injuries - Bergkamp, Henry, Gilberto and Senderos are out, but I feel we can cope,ââ¬Â said Wenger.
ââ¬ÅFreddie Ljungberg is available, Robert Pires is back, however I havenââ¬â¢t decided whether to start him [Pires].
ââ¬ÅGilberto has had scans on his ankle and they look positive. At first we thought he could be out for 4-6 weeks, but there is a possibility of him playing on Sunday.ââ¬Â
Wenger also suggested Ljungberg could start as a make-shift striker in the Amsterdam Arena on Tuesday night.
Here is the travelling squad in full:
Manuel Almunia
Mart Poom
Ashley Cole
Sol Campbell
Gael Clichy

Kolo Toure
Lauren
Manu Eboue
Freddie Ljungberg
Robert Pires
