The Amsterdam side are in the market for a striker ever since prolific hit-man Klaas-Jan Huntelaar left Ajax for Real Madrid last winter. They were linked with several strikers, but eventually opted to hand Dario Cvitanich the chance to prove his worth.
The 24-year-old initially impressed and scored seven goals in thirteen league matches. However, Cvitanich has been plagued by hamstring trouble and Ajax looked vulnerable without the former Banfield star.
Therefore, they have made Sahar their primary target to strengthen their squad up front. The Israeli international joined Chelsea in 2006, but still awaits his definite breakthrough.
The Blues farmed him out on loan to Quens Park Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth, and De Graafschap in the past couple of seasons and Sahar is finally showing his huge potential at the Eredivisie side.
The 19-year-old scored three goals in ten league matches for the relegation candidates, and has been a major threat in the matches he played so far.
Als de Graafschap in de eredivisie blijft is dat alleen te danken aan Ben Sahar, dus zo heel gek is dat niet. Vorig jaar hadden ze toch ook interesse in Geert den Ouden ofzo?
