Tuttosport claims the Bianconeri have been sending a scout to the Netherlands to watch the 21-year-old in action. Following a number of trips to Amsterdam, scout Renzo Castagnini has identified Van der Wiel as a possible target for coach Claudio Ranieri.
The Ajax man has been attracting plenty of interest for his versatility. He is tall, strong and can play on the wings as well as in central defence. It's here where Juventus need the reinforcements as Nicola Legrottaglie has been affected by various injury problems, and Olof Mellberg hasn't always been at his best.
In addition, the youngster has plenty of experience. He is a regular starter for Ajax, and he has made three appearances in the Oranje senior national side.
Juve have stated their plans are to bring in qualities players, but on a budget which will be in tandem with the club's policies on spending wisely. Tuttosport believes the club will make their move soon.
