Ja, maar je kunt de rest wel inschatten. En zo verrassend is het toch niet dat hij tegen Santoro, Tipsa en Berdych uit zou komen tot de kwart? En ik vind dat toch echt een lastiger rijtje dan Serra, Simon en Mathieu.
Maar je weet dat Federer geen echt lastige jongens tegenkomt tot de halve finale en daarom neem ik hem ook natuurlijk. Nummer 1 komt de top 4 altijd pas tegen in de halve finale. Je kunt toch niet zeggen dat de Federer-managers goed wegkomen met deze loting?! Juist niet toch, geen enkele verrassing. Elke ronde de lastigste tegenstander die hij kon hebben. Dat was bij Nadal duidelijk niet zo.

Stunt Wawrinka zou leuk zijn, maar niet als ie vervolgens verliest van Djokovic. Maar als die dan weer verliest van Berdych, maakt het niet uit. Dus vannacht is inderdaad cruciaal.

Nadal zal inderdaad weer tot augustus moeten wachten. En het lijkt mij zeker wel waarschijnlijk dat Djokovic hem dan al voorbij is. Als iemand het gaat doen dit jaar, zal Djokovic het zijn. Maar vergeet niet dat Federer in de komende maanden bijna alleen maar punten te winnen heeft en heel weinig heeft te verdedigen...

Ik zeg ook niet wanneer. Het zou goed kunnen dat Federer dit jaar nog bovenaan blijft staan, maar spannend kan het wel worden.
Voor FTM is het jammer dat mij zekerheidje in de afgelopen 4 GS nu wel erg duur begint te worden.

Bron? Interessant stuk. Mogelijk stelt Federer inderdaad al in IW en Miami orde op zaken. Al zou het te laat kunnen zijn als hij Dubai vroeg verliest en Nadal pakt R'dam en Dubai.

Hij heeft het in eigen hand om R'dam te winnen, +195 voor zijn ranking. Met Dubai zou hij +225 kunnen halen. Samen 420, dus nog 230 te gaan. Federer dus voor de QF eruit is zijn laatste kans. Daarna ligt het voor de hand dat het gat voorlopig zal groeien aangezien Nadal dan verdedigt: IW 500 Miami 125 MC 500 Barca 300 Rome 500 Hamburg 350 RG 1000 Wim 700 Dat het voor Nadal dan voorlopig onmogelijk wordt Federer te achterhalen is dus duidelijk. Dan zie ik eerder Djoko een kans maken. Het zal interessant worden om te zien hoe zijn gravelspel zich ontwikkelt. Hij was al vrij goed maar niet nummer 1 waardig; de 3 TMS toernooien zijn QF - QF - R16.

During the past few days, it has come to my attention that thereââ¬â¢s been quite a stir regarding what Fredrik Rosengren wrote in his blog about Novak Djokovic. For those of you who are non-Swedes or have missed out on last weekââ¬â¢s events, Rosengren wrote that Djokovic clearly tanked the match against Gilles Simon in Marseille. I was there and watched it - and couldnââ¬â¢t agree more with the coach of Mario Ancic. ââ¬ÅDjokoââ¬Â should actually never have won a set if it wasnââ¬â¢t for the mighty choke from the Frenchman. All the way from the start, it was very obvious that Djokovic wasnââ¬â¢t interested in winning this match. I was shocked to see him show up in Marseille after his severe (?) illness during the weekend. If you retire from a crucial Davis Cup tie being two sets to one up, you have absolutely nothing to do on a match court three days later. Djokovic obviously only saw the pile of money and flew in with the tournament jet, picked up the cash and left in a hurry, most likely with an even worse health as a result. Clearly the people in his team are not giving him the right advice. A 20-year old with an incredibly bright future should make the right long-term investments where the health should always be prioritized a very, very long way ahead of fast appearance money. Djokovicââ¬â¢ spokesperson Benito Perez-Barbadillo obviously defended his employer and told Eurosport.se that it was not a bad decision of Djokovic to compete in Marseille. Well, as far as Benito goes, I put absolutely no importance at all to what he is saying. Most of us who have come across Perez-Barbadillo in a press room around the world (he used to be employed as a Communications Manager for the ATP) know that he is a person who doesnââ¬â¢t take his job seriously and only tries to impress a certain group of people. During the summer tournaments in Europe, itââ¬â¢s been well known that heââ¬â¢s out clubbing all night and then letting the volunteers at the tournament do all his work during the following day while he is hanging out with the Spanish players. Kom eens uit die reet van Nadal, dan zou je zien dat hij er kansloos afgaat tegen Roddick en Tsonga en ook nog verliest van Seppi
Federer verliest van Djoko en Murray, nou nou nou wat een schande zeg. Dat zijn ongeveer de twee beste mensen in vorm tot nu toe dit jaar. Zoals ik al eerder zei, we moeten het zien na IW en Miami, dan weten we weer waar Federer staat.

Djokovic heeft deze maand een W en een F in masters te verdedigen, terwijl Federer de komende maanden niet echt veel te verdedigen heeft. De Masters in Noord-Amerika in augustus lijken mij de eerste mogelijkheid.

Rafael Nadal is the closest he's been to No. 1 Roger Federer in the South African Airways ATP Rankings. After Federer's first round exit in Dubai and Nadal's quarterfinal effort, the Swiss No. 1 will hold a 350-point lead over the Spaniard (6,330-5,980) as of Monday. This is the closest margin since May 10, 2004 when Federer led No. 2 Andy Roddick by that same figure. Federer has ranked a record 215 consecutive weeks at No. 1 since Feb. 2, 2004 while Nadal has been No. 2 a record 138 straight weeks (since July 25, 2005). Dus na Wimbledon is het inderdaad zeer goed mogelijk dat Djoko Nadal voorbij is. Gravel (MC-Rome-overig-Hamburg-RG): Nadal 500 - 500 - 350 - 300 - 1000 = 2650, met Wimbledon 3350, met IW/miami 3975. Neem Queens en Stuttgart erbij dan moet hij 4280 verdedigen tot en met half juli!! Vanaf Stuttgart tot nu heeft dus pas 1700 punten gehaald. Dat Djoko Nadal voorbij gaat is dus wel heel aannemelijk, het topic zou dus Federer en Djokovic moeten gaan heten zoals Ad Wim voorstelt.
