ik heb ff na moeten denken over die actie van contador, maar ik vind het toch wel magistraal. het lijkt er op dat armstrong not amused is, maar ik ben daar niet zo stellig in als studio sport.
contador heeft de rollen weer omgedraaid. zoals het ad terecht schrijft, de stand is 1-1. gewoon ff teruggepakt. als armstrong nu weer aanvalt zou het wel heel raar zijn. toch is het wel vervelend voor astana, want de ploeg moet natuurlijk wel kiezen voor wie ze uiteindelijk werken.
ik denk dat armstrong zal proberen toe te slaan op de mont ventoux. ik denk dat contador hem dan gewoon kan volgen.
dit is helaas het enige leuke aspect aan de tour dit jaar.

Nou, ik vind het een schijtstreek!( maar ik ben dan ook bevooroordeeld)
Pyreneën stellen echt geen reet voor( morgen ook zo'n zeikrit).
Weet eigenlijk niet wat voor tijdrit er nog komt?
Ik hoop uiteraard dat Armstrong wint, maar ik denk dat Contador te sterk is.
Winnen is niet alles,
maar verliezen is NIETS!!!

De etappe van gisteren is net zo spannend als die van vandaag.

Dit gaat nergens over. Deze etappe gaat verneukt worden door de renners zelf. Wat een lafaards!
Ze rijden een gat dicht terwijl ze maar 40km per uur rijden :dodgy:

NOS-commentator Maarten Ducrot is poolshoogte gaan nemen en heeft bevestigd gekregen bij een van de ploegleiders dat de renners de koers bewust 'saai' houden, omdat er vandaag geen oortjes zijn toegestaan en op deze manier de wedstrijd toch veilig verloopt...

De etappe van vandaag met oortjes vind ik nix spannender dan die van gister. Sterker nog, de "bergetappes" tot nu toe vond ik ook een aanfluiting; bergetappes die zowat eindigen in een massasprint; zeer matige Tour tot dusver.....

Kenny Robert Van Hummel, a 26-year-old rider on the Skil-Shimano team, is 1 hour 59 minutes 32 seconds behind the leader, Rinaldo Nocentini.
The van, a vehicle of mercy, sweeps the back of the peloton, looking to pick up riders who want to quit the Tour midrace because they have suffered enough. It is big enough to carry about 12 people.
But Van Hummel, a 26-year-old sprinter on the Skil-Shimano team, would not have any of that. He was last in the standings Sunday, but he refused to give up.
Though his back ached and his legs felt as if they were aflame, Van Hummel pedaled faster, making it to the top just inside the time cut, which is a percentage of the winning time that changes from stage to stage.
ââ¬ÅI know Iââ¬â¢m in last place, but this race is very long and difficult,ââ¬Â Van Hummel said Thursday, four days after surviving that Pyrenean ascent. Although he finished Stage 12 on Thursday in the main pack of riders, he was in 166th place ââ¬â out of 166 riders. The Tour started with a field of 180.
Van Hummelââ¬â¢s overall time is 1 hour 59 minutes 32 seconds behind the leader, Rinaldo Nocentini of Italy and the AG2R La Mondiale team. Last year, the last rider in the Tour, a three-week competition, finished nearly four hours after the leader.
ââ¬ÅI did two hours more cycling than the leaders,ââ¬Â Van Hummel said, ââ¬Åso maybe that shows that in my head, maybe, I am really strong.ââ¬Â
Finishing last may be an embarrassment at other sporting events, but at the Tour it is an unofficial honor.
The last rider in the standings earns the title of the Lanterne Rouge, or Red Lantern, a moniker that comes from the red lantern at the back of a trainââ¬â¢s caboose. Years ago, the Lanterne Rouge grew into a cult hero and often earned financial gains from the title. At a time when rider contracts were not as lucrative as they are today, the Lanterne Rouge received contracts to race in post-Tour events, just as the Tour winner would.
ââ¬ÅIt used to be quite a big deal to be the Lanterne Rouge,ââ¬Â said Paul Sherwen, the Tour commentator for Versus and a former pro rider. ââ¬ÅThere were a number of battles to try to finish last over all. We had stories of guys hiding in cornfields to finish last, and not actually second-to-last.ââ¬Â
In the 1980s, Tour organizers ended the folly of riders deliberately finishing last. They began eliminating the last rider in the standings after every stage, until the final few stages of the race.
But at this Tour, where three more riders abandoned the race Thursday ââ¬â one with digestive problems, another with respiratory problems and the other because of multiple falls on previous stages ââ¬â the plucky Van Hummel remains.
ââ¬ÅItââ¬â¢s not like heââ¬â¢s last in the New York City Marathon or last out of 9,999 people or something,ââ¬Â Jonathan Vaughters, the team director of Garmin-Slipstream, said. ââ¬ÅHeââ¬â¢s still one of the best riders in the world, trying to finish one of the toughest races in the world. Youââ¬â¢ve got to respect that.ââ¬Â
As a sprinter, Van Hummel is naturally not as good at climbing. So with the 2,150-mile race heading into the Alps in a few days, he faces even more excruciating rides. But that is what his team expected, said Iwan Spekenbrink, the managing director of Team Skil-Shimano.
The team weighed Van Hummelââ¬â¢s ability to sprint ââ¬â he won five races in May ââ¬â with his inability to climb, and they determined that having Van Hummel on the roster was worth the risk. They were right.
Two days after he climbed alone in the Pyrenees, Van Hummel finished seventh in a flat stage.
ââ¬ÅIt is really a mental fight for him to get through the mountain stages, where he could suffer all day long and still not make the time cut,ââ¬Â Spekenbrink said. ââ¬ÅFor him, we cannot talk about Paris. We just talk about day to day.ââ¬Â
Even if Van Hummel finishes four hours back at the end of the race, he will probably be only about 4 percent slower than the winner, which means he is not a bad rider ââ¬â just the slowest among the worldââ¬â¢s top cyclists who manage to complete the Tour de France.
His struggle reveals a side of the competition that most people never see. He is not Lance Armstrong, the seven-time Tour winner who is in third place, eight seconds back. Or Alberto Contador, the 2007 Tour winner who is in second place, six seconds back.
He is a cyclist, though, who earns respect from his peers simply by hanging in there. Other riders can empathize. Kurt-Asle Arvesen of the Saxo Bank team rode more than half of Stage 11 with a broken collarbone because he wanted to avoid the broom wagon.
Van Hummel still would like to finish better than seventh in a stage. The final sprint is likely to take place in Paris on July 26, the last day of the Tour. He has vowed to make it there. Until then, the fans will continue to hover around him to sneak a peak at the man who is, for now, the Lanterne Rouge.
ââ¬ÅIf I stop the race, I will be in all the newspapers and everyone will know about it, and that would be really terrible,ââ¬Â Van Hummel said. ââ¬ÅFrom now until then, itââ¬â¢s really heavy, but Iââ¬â¢ll try to survive. I will look at every day and say, ââ¬ËO.K., I made it,ââ¬â¢ then look at the day after that. Day by day, with a lot of pain, I will make it to Paris.ââ¬Â

Nicki Sorensen of Denmark won the 12th stage Thursday, his first Tour stage victory. He finished 48 seconds ahead of Laurent Lefevre of France.
Levi Leipheimer, who is fourth over all, crashed with about 2.5 kilometers to go and sustained contusions to his right wrist and back. He said he miscalculated a turn, lost control and hit a curb. Leipheimer hoped to continue racing Friday.
Also on Thursday, cyclingââ¬â¢s international union overturned its ban on earpieces, allowing riders to use electronic radio communication for the 13th stage Friday.

Ik denk dat Contador vandaag wel heeft laten zien wie the boss is. En Mentsjov heeft definitief afgehaakt, zoals door velen al verwacht.

Uiteraard vind ik het jammer van Armstrong, maar de snit is er vanaf. Toch wel knap( en droef tegelijk) dat hij 2e staat.

iedereen op vakantie?
Indrukwekkend van Armstrong hoor dat ie toch weer terug kwam.
Als hij morgen weer bij Contador blijft , moet ik het nog maar zien in de tijdrit.
Misschien is het ijdele hoop, maar ik zie hem zo dat gat dicht rijden van 1,5 minuut.
Winnen is niet alles,
maar verliezen is NIETS!!!

Een valpartijtje en dat dan als excuus aangrijpen om naar huis te gaan. Jeetje, getuigt van weinig karakter als je het mij vraagt.
Blij dat hij weg is, ik wil wielrenners zien en geen kleuters die toevallig een uitnodiging krijgen.
Ik werd ziek van dat "Genoeg over mij laten we hebben over mij ik heb karakter ik heb karakter tsjonge jonge jonge wat heb ik toch een karakter ik geef die mannetjes op karakter wat die manntjes zonder karakter(een beetje vals spelen door het peloton bij te houden) toekomt."
Iedere vluchtheuvel die ze voor de wielen kregen moest hij worden geduwd en alle afdalingen gingen op de Tom Tom van Zeeman. Hij had al lang gediskwalificeerd moeten worden.
Hard trainen Kenny dan kan je misschien meekomen in de Eneco tour !

Kan me voorstellen dat een fan van Verhoeven ook een fan van Van Hummel is. Het zijn beiden leuke kerels maar met zeer weinig talent.
Nu kan de aandacht binnen die ploeg eindelijk naar renners die dat echt verdienen op basis van hun prestaties.

Jij kan natuurlijk veel beter inschatten hoe talentvol Verhoeven is. Daar hebben Menzo, Jol, Brandts en Adelaar natuurlijk de ballen verstand van. Wat doe jij ook alweer in het voetbal?
Ik ben geen fan van Kenny. Maar laten we inderdaad de komende dagen lekker veel stil staan bij wederom een mislukte aanval van die charismatische Albert Timmer.

Leuke rit, ben benieuwd of de pleuris echt is uitgebroken bij Astana.
Armstrong was duidelijk not amused door de ( gevangen) tactiek, Klöden zal balen als een stekker, Bruyneel had een gezicht op onweer( zeiden ze bij radio tour).....
Er moet hele rare dingen gebeuren( misschien dat ze niet meer willen rijden voor Contador?), maar anders wint Contador gewoon de tour.
Veruit de beste renner.
